Nice site, Hamburgler. I’m always in search of good beefy burgers here in Bangkok, so obviously I will enjoy your site.

Surprisingly, I have found that my quest for great burgers has turned up few standouts. My problem is that I do not at all like burgers that are adorned with all kinds of spices and fillers in the meat, and I have seen FAR too much of that, here, for whatever reason.

I do have a suggestion for you. You should check out the Big Mango which is located just off Sukhumvit, Soi 4. From Sukhumvit, you go up the soi until you see Jool’s on the left, and then enter that sub-soi.

They used to be located on the second floor in Nana Plaza some years ago, at which time the burgers were good. Then they relocated to their present place (with new staff), and the burgers were no longer very good .. they were exactly what I DON’T like .. spiced up meat. But recently, they had a major shakeup, and they brought in a completely new kitchen staff. I was talked into trying a burger after that, and I must say, it was pretty good. And they are inexpensive, too. During happy hour, HB/CB are 79/89 baht without fries. Definitely in the bargain-burger bracket.

And as a bonus, if you like potatoes with your burgers, as you seemingly do, Big Mango makes some on the most delicious chips around.

    I hope you enjoy.

Also, because of your article, I am headed up to the Firehouse tonight to try their burger. I hope I have the same experience you did.

Steve, thanks for all of your comments; I’ll look into trying your BigMango suggestion in the near future. It really sounds like something I’d enjoy. Also, do let us know what you think about Firehouse. If you have a favorite, I’m currently running a Eater’s Choice 2011 poll on the BBB Facebook page if you care to vote for yours.

Well done on your blog this year!

I missed the Firehouse review, myself and the BET (Burger Evaluation Team) will be there soon to check it out.

The BET would rate Roadhouse at the top, perhaps at some point we can do a revisit of their burgers together.

      Hi Bob,

Thanks for the message! I appreciate your support. Now that you mention Roadhouse, the burger was pretty good – my experience there was brought down a bit by a little mixup in doneness. Aside from that, I would like to make it back sometime … but that will probably happen sometime later in the year. Going to do my best to hunt out some new haunts. Please let us know what you and the BET team think of Firehouse. (FYI: they’ve extended the 15% burger discount to BBB readers – just mention this site to get it when ordering).
